EXTINCT (2019)

The series EXTINCT brings to light the obsolescence and the exiguous utility of the museological (scientific) space as a structure of education in the XXI century. The visual proposal shows, in a satirical way, the museography and its spatial shortcomings to narrate, communicate, educate and solve new forms of learning in the present society of accelerationism. The photographs allow the appreciation of the disuse of the facilities and the composition shows how, in some cases, only the absence is present by emphasizing the point of view in the desolated cabinets. The images counterpose, juxtapose and interpolate each other between the reflections and the different focal planes; this mechanism aims to show the obtuse of the staged image of the museum. This message is reinforced/strengthened by highlighting elements that are, apparently, anodyne of the scenography -that which Deleuze identifies as the “párergon” or image accessory-. The photographs question the limits and the umbral of what’s left of the scientific value, they make explicit the interior and exterior duality of the anachronistic fragments that coexist in this inapprehensible no-place which, most likely, once had value and relevance for the pure sciences and the culture in the XIX century.
